#6 Acura out front at 8-hour mark

The #6 Acura Penske with Dane Cameron at the wheel was leading by 13.9s over the #31 Cadillac at the 1/3 mark of the Rolex 24.

Ricky Taylor was in third in the #7 Acura but the car has been slower than its sister car all race and the rumor is the #7 car may be setup to run in the wet when the rain finally comes.

Mazda Team Joest hit a double setback when both of its Mazda RT24-P entries hit trouble within moments of one another.

The No. 55 Mazda went to the garage after stopping on track at the hands of Olivier Pla, who was able to limp the car back to the garage where the team diagnosed a fuel leak.

Just moments later, the No. 77 of Timo Bernhard came to a halt with a fire at the back of the pole-sitting machine.

That car was running on the lead lap at the time, while the No. 55 had already encountered several setbacks including contact with the GT Daytona-class Acura NSX GT3 of Katherine Legge.

Mazda has announced the No. 77 cannot be repaired and it has been retired.

The #62 Ferrari was out front in GTLM but the #911 Porsche is the real leader once pitstops cycle through.
