Another American in IndyCar in 2011
According to AutoRacing1.com sources, American Charlie Kimball, a current Indy Lights driver, is working on a deal to race IndyCars in 2011. No word yet on who the team is.
Kimball ran Formula 3 and the World Series by Renault in Europe before moving back to the USA. In 2007, Kimball was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and was forced to abandon his racing program mid-season. Today Kimball is the only licensed driver with diabetes in the history of the Indy Racing league.
After his surprising diagnosis, Kimball returned to the cockpit in 2008 and claimed a podium finish in his first race back in the car.
