Tracy back fulltime in 2011?

UPDATE #2 “For the final call on 2011 drivers for KV Racing, we’re waiting for a few balls to drop," Jimmy Vasser told SPEEDTV.com.

"We’re waiting to see what’s going on with Graham [Rahal], Tony [Kanaan], Justin Wilson; Dan Wheldon is out there and we’re already working with Paul Tracy for next year.

The last two years we’ve done a partial schedule with PT but we are trying to get the commercial side in order to do a full season with him. I think he’d be a big influence on the other guys if they had him around all year to learn from.

“The Edmonton [race cancellation] hurts because they were a part of Paul’s program, but we’re still working hard there. We also have the Indy-only deal with SH Racing and expect to announce that driver in January. There’s no news there, but we’ll start talking to guys like [Oriol] Servia and a few others to see who’s available and who’s the best fit for Indy."

10/04/10 “Getting in a car and getting an hour of practice and going straight into qualifying is not ideal," he said.

Unlike at the start of the current season, however, Tracy said he is in serious talks for 2011 with KV Racing Technology for whom he raced in both the Honda Indy Toronto and the Honda Indy Edmonton this season and with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing, where he raced the No. 24 Dallara at Watkins Glen, Kentucky and Japan, to do a full calendar of races next season.

“I am working really, really hard on a program for 2011," he said. “I feel pretty confident that I have secured a lot of the (sponsorship) needed to run a whole season.

“But nothing is yet written in stone. Checks haven’t changed hands yet, but I do have verbal commitments from three companies. But at the end of the day, we still need to find more sponsorship."

Tracy said either the KVRT or D&R teams would be ideal for him because he already has built up a comfort level with both squads. Slam Sports

10/03/10 IndyCar Series veteran driver Paul Tracy was in the Dreyer & Reinbold Racing pits for the IndyCar season finale last night, and was asked about his possibilities for the 2011 season. He reiterated what we rumored back in July during the Toronto race weekend.

"I'm disappointed we're not in the race but pretty happy with where we are for next year," said Tracy. "We've been working on the program for next year, and I've got some of my key sponsors back. Honda of Canada, Motegi Racing Wheels and GEICO are going to be back with me. So we're looking forward to a full season next year, which would be great."
