Scott Speed to make IndyCar debut in 500

Dragon Racing will field NASCAR and Formula One veteran Scott Speed in the Indianapolis 500 and also in the Izod IndyCar Series finale at Las Vegas.
Speed would be eligible to compete for a $5 million bonus posted by IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard for any driver for another series who wins the race. As a teammate to Ho Pin Tung, Speed would be sponsored by Fuzzy's Ultra Premium Vodka, American Racing Wheels and Vizio in his attempt to make the Indy 500 for Dragon.
If he makes the field of the centennial running of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing, it would mark the IndyCar debut for Speed.
"It's an honor to be able to partner with Jay Penske, Dragon Racing, and a Hoosier legend like Fuzzy Zoeller for this year's Indy 500 and my debut in the IndyCar Series," said Speed, who ran the past two Sprint Cup seasons with Red Bull Racing. 05/05/11 SPEED.com is rumoring that California native and former F1 and NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Scott Speed will make his IZOD IndyCar Series and Indy 500 debut with Jay Penske's Dragon Racing Team.
The 28-year-old American spent the better part of two seasons in F1 driving for the Toro Rosso team before shifting his attention to the world of oval racing, competing in the NASCAR Craftsman Trucks and Sprint Cup Series through the end of the 2010 season.
The resurrected Dragon Racing team, which made its 2011 debut at Long Beach with veteran Canadian driver Paul Tracy, announced earlier this week it will run a second car at Indianapolis in conjunction with Sam Schmidt Motorsports for Dutch/Chinese driver Ho-Pin Tung, so now it means that they will attempt to qualify three cars for the 500.
