IndyCar eyes two new international races

UPDATE IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard told the Toronto Star he’ll sit down at the end of the season with Toronto race owners Kevin Savoree and Kim Green as well as Edmonton promoter Octane Management of Montreal to determine if there’s interest in another Canadian race.

“I’d like to use the promoters we have because they’re doing a good job," he said. “Toronto this year is going to be off the charts, I’m hearing."

05/18/11 Word on the street is that IndyCar hopes to add two international races to its current schedule when the Motegi, Japan race goes away after 2011. Qatar, Mexico City, a 2nd race in Brazil (previously rumored during this year' Sao Paulo, Brazil round), and China are said to be on the short list.

Qatar (pronounced Cutter) would be a waste of time in our book due to the hatred for America in that part of the world, Mexico City makes a lot of sense but right now it's too dangerous for Americans in Mexico, the 2nd Brazil race will happen and China is all but a wet dream for IndyCar unless Ho-Pin Tung gets a lot of attention from China, thus boosting IndyCar in China.
