Hulkenberg could leave F1 for 2012 IndyCar ride

UPDATE He was asked if he was referring to DTM, Le Mans or IndyCar. "To be honest, I don't want to waste time worrying about it at the moment because I am confident that I can stay here (in F1)," said the 23-year-old at the Hungaroring.

Nico Hulkenberg would leave the formula 1, next year if he does not land a fulltime according to sources. Hulkenberg, currently a test driver for Force India, wants to return in 2012 to a race seat. Should he not succeed he will leave the Formula 1.

"I do not want sit around all weekend, I love to race too much," said the former Williams driver.

What could be the alternatives? "This is pretty obvious," says the 23-year-old. "Only the most professional of motorsports – DTM, Le Mans and the North American IndyCar Series."

"The Force India team has read an option and they are pleased with me, but Vijay will only decide at the end of the year," said Hulkenberg.

"Ask again in two months," grins Hulkenberg. Especially since it seems as if even the current best of the three small teams, Lotus, the seats are already taken.

So Hulkenberg has a choice, stay in F1 and be a backmarker the rest of his career, or move to IndyCar where he has a legitimate chance of winning.
