IndyCar eyeing a race in Seattle

Word on the street is that IndyCar, inconjunction with the same group responsible for making the Baltimore GP a reality, is eyeing a possible street race in Seattle, Washington. Seattle is close to Vancouver, Canada, which was a successful race for CART until building for the Winter Olympics encroached on the race course and killed the event. So IndyCar racing is not new to the region.

Interesting story about Vancouver – the CART IndyCars would go through the kink in the backstraight at 180 mph sideways. You could noticeably see the tail end of the IndyCars stepped out from the front in the overhead camera shot as they struggled for adhesion on the limit of control. It was pretty spectacular to watch, yet in all those years the TV announcers at the time never picked up on this sensational display of skill and never talked about it – oblivious to the world around them. A lost opportunity.

That would never happen in a NASCAR race broadcast, and hence why they are winning the war.
