Two DRS zones for Monza
There were also two rear-wing overtaking zones per lap in Montreal and Valencia, but due to the complexity of operating the system for the FIA, there was just one activation point per circuit.
The two independent zones at Monza, a first for formula one, will mean that chasing drivers have two separate opportunities per lap to get within one second of their rival prior to reaching the overtaking zones.
At high speed Monza, the first DRS will be located on the pit straight, and the other on the long run to the Ascari chicane, according to Globo Esporte (Brazil), Auto Hebdo (France) and Autosprint (Italy).
08/29/11 The FIA is to use two independent DRS zones for the first time at the forthcoming Italian Grand Prix. For Monza, DRS can be deployed both on the start/finish straight and between the second Lesmo and the Ascari chicane. The detection point for the first zone will be between the Lesmos, while for the pits straight the marker line will be on the exit of the Parabolica.
