IndyCar to extend deal with Barber Motorsports Park
IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard said Sunday that he has already started discussions with Barber track promoter ZOOM Motorsports about a long-term deal to continue racing here.
One year remains on the original three-year contract with IndyCar that was extended by one year. The IndyCars race really well at Barber. It is a great track for IndyCar.
Bernard heaped praise on the job ZOOM does at Barber and said 'I'd love to see these guys do another (IndyCar) event."
ZOOM President Gene Hallman said "absolutely we want a long-term deal. Our intention is to make this a permanent part of the Birmingham sports calendar."
Bernard did say that he has at least one thing he'd like to see addressed at the track.
"We want to talk to them about making sure we have some places to pass," Bernard said.
