Sear Point contract precludes Laguna Seca race

UPDATE With yesterday's announcement of a 3-year deal for GoPro to sponsor the Sonoma IndyCar race, it appears the Sonoma IndyCar deal will get renewed when it expires in August.

06/24/12 According to sources, Laguna Seca would like to host an IndyCar race, possibly even a replacement for the China race. However, Sears Point put a clause in their contract to prohibit IndyCar racing in Monterey, California because it is deemed too close.

So until that contract expires, Laguna Seca cannot host a race. The Sears' contract is up for renewal in August and there is some doubt that it will be renewed.
