Power, Bourdais to join Long Beach Walk of Fame
Will Power |
Will Power and Sebastien Bourdais will be added to the Long Beach Motorsports Walk of Fame ahead of this weekend’s IndyCar round.
The Walk of Fame, which features a series of medallions embedded in the footpath in front of the city’s convention center, honors ‘key contributors’ to motor racing.
Since its inauguration in 2006, two to three motorsport identities have been added each year.
Sebastien Bourdais |
Power became the first Australian to win the Indianapolis 500 last year, claimed the 2014 IndyCar title, and is second only to Mario Andretti with 56 career poles to date.
Bourdais won the Champ Car World Series four times in a row (2004 to 2007), the GTE class in the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans, and the GT Le Mans class in the 2017 24 Hours of Daytona.
This year’s Walk of Fame ceremony will take place on Thursday morning (local time), a day before cars hit the track for practice for the fourth race of 2019.
