09/29/12 The latest rumored schedule by AutoWeek, which is fairly close to ours, shows no Providence, RI race listed, though it can be added last minute.

09/28/12 A press conference has been called for Monday morning at Pocono International Raceway at which time it is expected to be announced that the IZOD IndyCar Series is returning to the track in 2013.

The press conference will feature Pocono Raceway president Brandon Igdalsky, IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard, 1969 Indianapolis 500 winner Mario Andretti and Ed Carpenter, the winner of the 2012 IndyCar Series season finale.

09/23/12 Edmonton, which has been cancelled for lack of a title sponsor two years running, has been removed from the schedule below bringing it down to 19 races. In this Twitter interview, Michael Andretti admits to being the promoter of the Ft. Lauderdale race if it happens. He says he is still working on it, so that might be added in.

09/19/12 An article by Autoweek said Pocono is expected to be on the 2013 IndyCar schedule and that the race would be held either the weekend before or after the July 4 holiday. See assumed schedule below.

09/15/12 At Fontana IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard all but confirmed that Pocono (Pa.) Raceway and a street race in Providence, R.I., will be on the 2013 schedule to be announced by Oct. 1. See updated assumed schedule below – it shows 20 races so one of them probably will not happen.

08/31/12 Pencil in Sao Paulo for the first weekend in May we hear.

08/30/12 IndyCar’s 2013 schedule is shaping up, with Iowa Speedway’s confirmation that it will host its race June 22.

That makes at least nine events with confirmed dates:

  1. March 22-24 – Street race in St. Petersburg, Fla.
  2. April 5-7 – Road course race at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Ala.
  3. April 19-21 – Street race in Long Beach, Calif.
  4. May 3-5 – Streets of Sao Paulo, Brazil
  5. May 26 – Indianapolis 500
  6. June 1 – Street race at Belle Isle circuit in Detroit (Doubleheader?)
  7. June 2 – Street race at Belle Isle circuit in Detroit (Doubleheader?)
  8. June 7-8 – Oval race at Texas Motor Speedway
  9. June 14-15 – Oval race at the Milwaukee (Wis.) Mile
  10. June 21-22 — Oval race at Iowa Speedway
  11. Jul 6-7 – Oval at Pocono Raceway
  12. Jul 12-14 – Streets of Toronto
  13. Aug 2-4 – Road Course at Mid-Ohio
  14. Aug 9-11 – Street Race Providence RI
  15. Aug 24 – Road Course at Sonoma (Doubleheader?)
  16. Aug 25 – Road Course at Sonoma (Doubleheader?)
