Major improvement coming to IndyCar
Chip Ganassi is not worried. What does he know? |
Team owner Chip Ganassi told the Associated Press this current storm has been blown out of proportion by the media and is much ado about nothing.
"Every year you've got the same old people asking the same old questions and the fact of the matter is IndyCar racing goes up and down with the rest of the economy. For five people in the press to be wound up about it, it is not really having the finger on the pulse of what's going on," he said Monday. "Everything is fine. We have the same old problems today that we did before Randy got there. A lousy TV package, the same old gravitational problems any sport has today.
"It's the offseason and there's nothing else to talk about So everybody just take a deep breath."
10/29/12 After the firing of Randy Bernard as CEO of IndyCar Sunday, Peter DeLorenzo of Autoextremist writes today about all the things wrong with IndyCar, but ends his article with this zinger….
"After writing all of this, I was cautioned just a few minutes ago this morning by one high-ranking executive in the Motor City (someone who is deeply involved at the highest levels of decision-making when it comes to a particular company's involvement in racing) that, "good things are to come in IndyCar, stay tuned."
He is not prone to overpromising anything and he has impeccable credibility, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt – for now.
But really, a new beginning for IndyCar?
I would classify that as a giant "we'll see."
