Kentucky Derby Draws Best Overnight Rating Since Early ’90s
What will the Indy 500 draw on NBC in 2019 |
Proving that if you put events on network TV instead some obscure TV channel like NBCSN you can get big TV ratings, NBC's Kentucky Derby coverage drew a 10.9 overnight rating for the 6:30-7:30pm ET race portion of the telecast, matching '92 as the best Derby overnight since '90.
The 10.9 rating is up 20% from last year’s race, which averaged a 9.1 rating. It also marks TV’s best Saturday overnight since the NFL Divisional Playoffs in January. The overnight rating peaked at an 11.9 from 6:45-7:00pm ET. Louisville led all metered markets with a 39.5 rating, followed by Cincinnati (20.3) and Ft. Myers (19.4).
