Honda sandbagging?

Word in the Indy paddock is that Honda is sandbagging – letting the Chevy teams be fastest in every Indy 500 practice session – as they pretty much did last year. Then on race day Honda will turn up the wick and bury Chevy.

Honda uses a single larger turbo. That may be a disadvantage on road and street circuits but on the big ovals it is said to be an advantage.

For the first time in a decade, IndyCar teams could flirt with 230-mph laps, a senior series official said Tuesday. That’s because even though the extra turbocharged boost given to engines starting Friday. The boost is increased before pole day for entertainment, giving fans higher-speed laps. The boost is lowered for the race's 500 miles to help engine reliability.
