Valencia: Vettel puts it to them again

Sebastian Vettel

The fastest driver in F1 continues to show his heels to the rest of the F1 field. Sebastian Vettel has now won seven poles from eight grands prix, as the world champion took his 22nd Formula 1 career pole in Valencia in qualifying for the European GP.

It's an all-Red Bull front row with teammate Mark Webber 2nd, and Lewis Hamilton rounded out the top three for McLaren. The of the Ferraris of Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa rounded out the top-5.

Canadian GP winner Jenson Button McLaren will start sixth for McLaren.

Before the weekend started Michael Schumacher said their cars were only good enough for a 4th row starting position. He was spot on. The Mercedes chose to only make one Q3 run and fill row four, with Nico Rosberg only 0.009 seconds ahead of teammate Michael Schumacher.

"We had a good qualifying session, generally a good build-up throughout the weekend, picking up steadily some pace and I felt more and more comfortable in the car, that was most important<" said Vettel

"It was nice today to sit here and have the front row for us, it is a good start for tomorrow, but it is a long race so we have to go from there."
