Pic to lose F1 ride, step down to IndyCar

Charles Pic – Is his check to small to stay in F1?

Charles Pic has expressed doubt over his Formula 1 future, admitting that although he would like to remain at Caterham, a contract extension is far from guaranteed. If his check is not big enough, it should be big enough to buy a ride in IndyCar instead.

The Frenchman, 23, joined the Leafield-based outfit on a 'multi-year' deal at the end of last season, having impressed during his debut campaign with Marussia. But with Heikki Kovalainen vying for a full-time return, he says his plans are still unsettled.

Speaking in Thursday's press conference ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix, Pic explained: "For next year, the logic for me would be to stay at Caterham but it's not sure. I think there are still many seats available for next year, so we will see."

Asked about the potential for his Formula 1 career to end after just two seasons, Pic responded: "It's like that every year. In the end, I don't think anything's changed a lot.

"We try to focus on the races we have now and give our best this weekend. I will try to get a good result for the team and then we'll see what happens for next year."

Caterham is battling Marussia for 10th place in the Constructors' standings, with the latter holding the advantage courtesy of Jules Bianchi's 13th place finish in Malaysia.
