Franchitti and Judd reunite

Ashley Judd and her estranged husband Dario Franchitti are reportedly back together after the married couple of 11 years announced they had separated in January.

Ashley and Dario, a three-time winner of the Indianapolis 500 and four-time Indycar champion, issued a statement at the beginning of the year stating that they were splitting after marrying in a private ceremony in Scotland back in 2001.

"We have mutually decided to end our marriage. We'll always be family and continue to cherish our relationship based on the special love, integrity, and respect we have always enjoyed," a spokesperson for Judd and Franchitti said in a statement to People magazine at the time.

According to the actress' mother though, the couple are now back together after a horrifying car crash made them realise what they mean to each other.

Naomi Judd has told Closer Magazine that Dario's car crash on October 6 saw Ashley rushing to his side: “The instant she heard about the wreck, she jumped on a plane and was there with him."

“They are madly in love. And they are bonded for life," Ashley's mother added. “Ashley is a magnificent nurse. She has so much compassion," before stating that her daughter has been “a pit bull" taking care of Dario.

Back in January, the pair were adamant they would remain close. Shortly after the news broke of their split, Judd tweeted: "Family forever. @dariofranchitti."

Franchitti later responded with a tweet of his own: "@ashleyjudd family forever."

A rep for Ashley has been contacted for further comment on this report.
