Van der Garde talking to three teams

Giedo van der Garde's management has informed GPUpdate.net that it is in discussions with all three teams that still have a seat available for the 2014 Formula 1 campaign, Caterham, Sauber and Marussia.

The Dutchman recently revealed that he was talking to current team Caterham, Sauber and Force India about a seat, although the latter option has now evaporated after the team confirmed Nico Hülkenberg and Sergio Perez.

Since then, rumors have grown that van der Garde is pushing hard to secure a deal at Sauber, where he would become Adrian Sutil's team-mate after the German completed a switch from Force India last week.

"We are still working," Jan Paul ten Hoopen, who manages van der Garde alongside Jeroen Schothorst, told GPUpdate.net. "We are still very busy with negotiations. We are talking with all teams that have a seat free."

Although Marussia appears to be a potential new avenue for van der Garde, team boss John Booth explained earlier this week that the outfit is "very close" to extending Max Chilton's contract into a second season.
