Grand Prix chairman Bud Denker is optimistic about the future of the Detroit Grand Prix on Belle Isle

“We signed a new contract this past spring with the DNR, so we’ll be here this year, plus two more with some option years after that," Denker said. “We’re well positioned to continue to give back to Belle Isle and the city."

Will there be any tree huggers at this year's race?

"If the race moved off Belle Isle, there would be no other place to go, Denker said.

“This is the only option. We did the research, looked at other options, as well. We’re going to keep it here for years to come, we hope."
