IndyCar Race 1
Josef Newgarden used pit strategy, as well as a pit incident– caused when Will Power left his pits with 3 wheels — to take the lead and win the first race of the 2019 Detroit Grand Prix. Alexander Rossi dominated for the first half, but was unable to regain the lead and finished second. Takuma Sato made incredible passes while the track was wet to end up third. Felix Rosenqvist and Ryan Hunter-Reay rounded out the top 5.
IndyCar Race 2
From last to first in 24-hours. Saturday Scott Dixon crashed in Race 1 of the Detroit GP doubleheader and finished last. On Sunday his Ganassi Racing team called a perfect strategy and Scott Dixon drove a perfect race to win the 2nd half of the Detroit GP doubleheader. After a late caution to fetch the crashed car of Felix Rosenqvist, Dixon got a jump on 2nd place Marcus Ericsson and led the rest of the way for the victory.
IMSA Race
It was a Chevrolet sponsored race but Acura drivers Dane Cameron and Juan Pablo Montoya have claimed their second consecutive IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship victory for Acura Team Penske in Saturday’s Chevrolet Sports Car Classic in Detroit.
