McLaren want Alonso back in 2015

The Bahrain paddock is being rocked by a rumor which has slipped out earlier than expected regarding the future of McLaren and Fernando Alonso. The British team appears to have started off the hostilities, or at least that is how it is being interpreted.

Yesterday McLaren posted a photo on Twitter of "Ron smiling seven years ago in Bahrain". Alongside Dennis was the recently signed Fernando Alonso, chatting happily with his new boss in 2007 in the paddock at the circuit.

Honda's interest as part of its return to Formula 1 in 2015 as the exclusive engine supplier for McLaren has been confirmed. They want a world champion at the wheel, and their preference lies with Fernando Alonso because he has the experience to drive them forward. There was talk at the end of the last season, and the rumblings have begun again now.

Fernando Alonso's camp is choosing to ignore rumors of this sort. "The driver is happy where he is," said his manager, Luis García Abad.
