Yet another P2 team to quit Tudor series?

Rumors of an impending TUDOR United SportsCar Championship exit by France's Oak Racing have been inaccurate, according to team principal Philippe Dumas.

Speaking with RACER on Wednesday after Oak surpassed 6000 kilometers of testing with its new Ligier JS P2 coupe (BELOW), Dumas says the factory team continues to support the TUDOR Championship.

"I sent a letter to IMSA to better explain our purpose for Oak and Onroak Automotive crossing the Atlantic to race in their series," said Dumas. "We need to build something strong, because if it doesn't happen, it's not good for motorsports, and we want to be part of a very strong championship. We like the series very much and believe it can have a big future."

"I'm proud of what we have done this year; we nearly did a perfect job at Daytona except for the alternator failure and we were quick at Sebring and Long Beach, and we need to be patient because we are new to the championship," Dumas explained. "But now I think it is good to tell the series that we will continue to do as good as we can because we are here like a messenger from Europe as a team and manufacturer and it's a good time for them to help us to have the chance to fight the DPs and win some races.

"It wasn't possible to arrive at the beginning and be arrogant and say we need changes, and we will continue to do our job, but now, we really want to have more chances to win overall because it's the only possibility to find sponsorship, to find paying drivers, and to sell cars." More at Racer.com
