Will Ferrari get its ‘Super Team’ of Alonso, Vettel, and Raikkonen?

A reader writes, Dear AR1.com, I may have thought of the answer to the puzzle of who is driving where in F-1 next year. This answer tracks with the several comments already made, e.g.,

1.Christian Horner's pronouncement that Vettel is going to Ferrari, and

2.Raikkonen's comments that he isn't at all worried about his ride with Ferrari, and would be happy to have Vettel as a teammate, and

3. Particularly, with Alonso's comments to Will Buxton that he [Alonso] will not have a Mercedes engine next year, plus when people learn the answer, they will say, [something like] "Oh, of course."

This answer also explains why there has been no actual confirmation by Vettel or Ferrari, and why other team managers claim no knowledge of having contract talks with Vettel or Alonso.

Lastly, this answer even helps solve another problem that many inside F-1 expect next year, and it uses a solution previously proposed by the key team.

Will Buxton's next question to Alonso should be, "How many teammates do you expect to have next year?" I believe the correct response to be: "Two." Vettel and Raikkonen.

Maybe the lack of confirmation (or denial) is because Bernie and John Todt are working at convincing previously opposed team managers to accept three car teams, an easy decision if both Caterham and Marussia fold as expected. They may also be drafting new sporting regs. for Committee approval and submission at the next World Motorsport Council meeting. Some of the previous opponents are teams that are not expected to make the grid next year. Remaining opponents may have to face the reality of needing additional entries no matter where they come from in order to field enough cars for a viable world championship.

So, there's the answer…..or not. Roger Wyman, Pleasant Hill, CA
