Villeneuve to run 2015 Indy 500? Possibly more? (Update)

UPDATE "I want to run the whole season of IndyCar. Of course, if there is only one race available, I prefer to run the Indianapolis 500 again. There is no doubt about that," Villeneuve told LANCE Net during the Brazil GP Formula 1 weekend.

This year, the Canadian returned to the cockpit of an Indy car for the Indianapolis 500, finishing 14th, just eight seconds behind the winner, American Ryan Hunter-Reay.

"It was an amazing experience. I really missed racing at that speed and in an open wheel car. I felt alive again. When I sat in the car, driving like that, running well … I definitely felt alive again," said the former Canadian pilot.

Today Villeneuve is a Formula 1 commentator on a European television station. Asked if there was any possibility of the public seeing the 1995 champion back to contest a full season of IndyCar, the Canadian just smiled, as if to hide something.

"There's always a chance. But now I cannot tell you the size (laughs)" – he said.

AR1 is hearing Jacques Villeneuve will definitely run next year's Indy 500. Might we see the former World Champ in more IndyCar events?

Jacques Villeneuve and Schmidt Peterson Motorsports caught the racing world by surprise last year when they announced Villeneuve would run the Indianapolis 500 in 2014. The 1995 Indianapolis 500 winner, 1995 CART Champion, and 1997 Formula 1 World Champion started the race 27th and finished 14th.

Well, AutoRacing1 is hearing that Villeneuve will almost certainly return to Indy for the 99th running of 'The Greatest Spectacle in Racing' with SPM. And word is the 43-year-old Canadian may take part in more Verizon IndyCar Series races. How many exactly? That remains to be seen.
