This rumor is upgraded to 'fact' today. Emerson Fittipaldi will make a return to racing at the age of 67, at his home round of the World Endurance Championship at Interlagos.
The Brazilian will drive an AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia and will share the GTE Am entry with Alessandro Pierguidi and Jeff Segal after Belarusian Alexander Talkanitsa Sr. stepped down to make way for the racing legend.
Team boss Amato Ferrari, who confirmed that the entry for Fittipaldi was made yesterday, said: "Emerson was a hero of mine when I was young, so it is a pleasure to have him in one of my cars. There will be no chance for him to test the car, but I feel he is very motivated and can do a good job."

The Brazilian racing legend has been added to the FIA drivers’ rating list, which was updated on Thursday, with the two-time Formula One World Champion and Indianapolis 500 winner being graded as a Bronze.
Fittipaldi, 67, is the promoter of the FIA World Endurance Championship round at Interlagos, an event that has previously attracted Brazilian drivers and support.
While there’s been no formal indication “Emmo" could be preparing for a comeback in this year’s FIA WEC season finale, the FIA typically only classifies new drivers at their specific request.
Having enjoyed an illustrious career, that’s also included the 1989 CART Championship, Fittipaldi hasn’t been behind the wheel of a race car in professional competition in more than five years.
