Robin Miller Mailbag/Racer.com: Spoke with Justin last night and he's "cautiously optimistic" something good is going to break for him but wouldn't go into any detail. I know Jimmy Vasser wants him for the second car at KVSH if they can find the money but I also keep hearing Andretti will have JWil in the fourth car and that a fifth car is in the works with Zach Veach on the ovals and Jean-Eric Vergne handling the road races.
Justin Wilson has scored two wins for Dale Coyne Racing. Will he back with DCR in 2015? |
10/14/14 AutoRacing1 is hearing that Justin Wilson may not be back with Dale Coyne Racing in 2015.
Wilson, of course, has driven for DCR the past three seasons and drove for the Plainfield, Illinois based team in 2009. It was in that 2009 season, that Wilson recorded the first victory for Dale Coyne Racing in 25 years of Indy car style racing. The Sheffield, England native also won for the team at Texas Motor Speedway in 2012.
Now, as reported by AutoRacing1 during the Iowa weekend this past season, DCR holds an option of Wilson's services for 2015. However, this offseason, Wilson, a 7-time Indy car race winner has been linked with the vacancy at Andretti Autosport seat after James Hinchcliffe's move to Schmidt-Peterson Motorsports. Additionally, Wilson has been linked as a possibility to team with Sebastien Bourdais in some arrangement under the KV Racing Technology banner.
For now, it is unknown whether the team has exercised its option (and we don’t expect to hear anything official for a while). But our information suggests that Wilson is likely to return to DCR for a fifth season.
