Lots of rain in Indy over the next week (Update)

UPDATE The weather forecast has improved since yesterday, as chances for thunderstorms have been reduced to 60% for Saturday and 50% for Sunday. Also, it seems there will be plenty of good weather for the teams to continue fiddling with the new speedway aero kits over the next few days.

As for the weekend, it looks like there's a decent chance it will rain at some point. The question, of course, becomes, when.

Intelligence from AR1 weather planes says the Indianapolis Motor Speedway may look somewhat like this during the weekend.

Check out this Intellicast Weather forecast from Indianapolis. It appears Tuesday and Wednesday of this week will be nice. However, there are showers planned for this weekend which would put qualifying in jeopardy.

While everyone is bitching and moaning about the ABC broadcast this weekend (it was a grossly unprofessional effort), keep in mind the series has but a few precious dates remaining in 2015 to be on network TV. Saturday and Sunday qualifying are on ABC, the Indianapolis 500, then the Detroit doubleheader. After that, IndyCar disappears from over-the-air TV until probably next March at St. Pete.

We'll continue to track the weather. However, the series could certainly use something of an assist from the weather gods.
