Pocono: Quals rained out, Practice to start
Championship leader Josef Newgarden (No. 2 Hitachi Chevrolet) of Team Penske will start first in Sunday’s ABC Supply 500, but will not earn the championship point awarded to the pole winner pursuant to INDYCAR rule 12.3.4. Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi (No. 27 MilitaryToMotorsports.com Honda) will start alongside Newgarden on the front row.
Rounding out the top five are Team Penske’s Simon Pagenaud (No. 22 Penske Truck Rental Chevrolet), Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon (No. 9 PNC Bank Honda) and Team Penske’s Will Power (No. 12 Verizon Chevrolet), respectively.
Track drying on the 2.5-mile oval has been underway and is now complete. The session will be broadcast live on NBC Gold when the session goes green at 1:50 p.m. ET and available on NBC Sports Network during the network’s 2:30-4 p.m. live window.
