UPDATE NASCAR Xfinity Series crew chief Nick Harrison's July death has been ruled to be accidental after autopsy and toxicology reports by the North Carolina medical examiner showed he had cocaine, oxycodone and alcohol in his system when he died, according to multiple reports.
Fox Sports first reported the findings.
Harrison, 37, had 0.14 milligrams of cocaine per liter of blood in his system, 0.32 milligrams per liter of prescription opioid oxycodone and a blood alcohol level of 0.08%. Harrison also had an enlarged heart and a history of sleep apnea, but those factors weren't ruled to have contributed to his death.
07/21/19 Kaulig Racing announced Sunday morning that veteran crew chief Nick Harrison died. He was 37.
Harrison was the crew chief for Justin Haley‘s No. 11 Chevrolet in the Xfinity Series and had called the car’s 13th-place finish Saturday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
No cause of death or information on services was immediately available. A Kaulig Racing spokesperson said “further details would be provided as they come."
