Newly crowned IndyCar Series champion Josef Newgarden put a little icing on his celebratory cake Friday night in Charlotte.

The Team Penske driver took six laps around the 17-turn, 2.28-mile road course in an Indy car that recently saw action at the series finale at Laguna Seca.
