Serralles to IndyCar?

Felix Serralles

Formula 3 returnee Felix Serralles is hoping to contest the Macau Grand Prix in November, although his focus remains on a career in IndyCar reports Autosport.

The Indy Lights race winner, who contested last weekend's Masters of F3 at Zandvoort, will also compete in this weekend's F3 European Championship round at the Nurburgring while he waits on news of whether he will be accepted on the Macau entry list.

The Puerto Rican competed at Zandvoort with Jo Zeller Racing, driving the JZR-owned car campaigned by Kang Ling for Mucke Motorsport in the first eight rounds of this year's European championship.

He will drive the same car but under a Mucke entry at the Nurburgring, as JZR does not have a registered entry in the 2015 championship, but it would be run under the Zeller banner in Macau.

The lines are blurred between Mucke and JZR anyway, as team principal Zeller also engineers at Mucke, while Santino Ferrucci's 2015 Mucke engineer Ralf Druckenmuller was working with Serralles at Zandvoort.

"I miss the F3 car and I'm excited to be back," said Serralles, who finished 10th in the qualifying race at Zandvoort and 12th in the final.

"It's been a little bit difficult in terms of going back to a slower car – it's harder than getting into a faster one. Also we had lots of issues with seats, but we finally made it comfortable for qualifying."

But Serralles added that his future revolves around a US career.

"The plan next year is Indy Lights and LMP2 [in the IMSA SportsCar blue ribands] if I can," he said.

"And you can never cross out the possibility of IndyCar – it depends on the sponsor." Autosport
