Logano claims Coors Light Pole Award at Kansas

Joey Logano

Joey Logano won the Sprint Cup Series Coors Light Pole Award on Friday for Saturday's SpongeBob SquarePants 400 at Kansas Speedway.

This is the Team Penske driver's fourth pole award of 2015 and his first at the 1.5-mile track. The 2014 Daytona 500 winner won the fall race at Kansas last season.

Lining up second to Logano on the front row on Saturday will be Kasey Kahne.

Brad Keselowski, Martin Truex Jr. and Carl Edwards complete the top-five for the starting lineup.

Defending race winner Jeff Gordon qualified 11th. Gordon has a total of three wins in 18 starts at Kansas, the most among active drivers.

Erik Jones, who is piloting the No. 18 while Kyle Busch is out recovering from injuries suffered at Daytona, makes his first Cup start this week. The 18-year-old qualified 12th. Jones led the second practice session on Friday.

Notable drivers such as Denny Hamlin, Ryan Newman, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Matt Kenseth, Jimmie Johnson and Clint Bowyer did not advance to the final round and will start outside the top 12.

Brendan Gaughan was the only driver to not qualify.
