Rossi or Maldonado to drive 4th Andretti/Herta IndyCar (2nd Update)

UPDATE #2 After our article by Mark Cipolloni on Saturday calling for Andretti and Herta to do the right thing and sign American Alexander Rossi to drive the #98 car, Robin Miller of Racer.com reports tonight that the deal is done. Rossi will be announced as the driver of the #98 Andretti/Herta Honda very soon, which will turn this rumor to 'fact.'

02/19/16 According to motorsport.com, ex-Formula 1 driver Pastor Maldonado may also be in the running for the #98 Andretti/Herta ride and Gabby Chaves is out of contention. Alexander Rossi, a very talented American, would do a lot more for IndyCar than Pastor Maldonado with some backing from PDVSA, the Venezuelan petroleum giant.

Today it became final – American Alexander Rossi lost the 2nd Manor F1 seat to Rio Haryanto, who had huge backing from the Indonesian government. In F1 it's not how good of a driver you are, it's how big of a check you can bring.

Rumor has it that F1's loss could be IndyCar's gain and Rossi may land the #98 Andretti Herta seat.

Rossi has zero oval track experience so he is going to have to sign something soon so he can get some oval testing in before the season begins.
