Indy 500 to sellout (Update)
Track president Doug Boles said staff members are processing tickets at the fastest pace in years.
"We have already sold more reserve tickets to this Indianapolis 500 than we did for the 2015 race," Boles told IndyStar. "So if the race was today, the crowd would be bigger than last year’s crowd, and we have (66) days to go."
IMS has approximately 230,000 reserved seats. Total attendance includes the sale of general admission tickets, which there is no limit to.
Company policy is to not provide specific financial information, but Boles said this will be "a mega crowd."
"(It) will feel like an early '90s, late '80s race here," he said.
The races Boles references were before IndyCar’s old guard, including drivers A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti, the Unsers and Johnny Rutherford, retired from competition. Indy Star
