Karam Looking to run Pocono? (Update)

UPDATE AR1 is hearing that Karam will in fact not be running this weekend's ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Raceway. Although Karam apparently had raised most of the necessary budget to secure a seat, our intelligence suggests you won't see the Nazareth, Pa. native to be on the entry list when it comes out later today.

Go ahead and say what you will about Karam… Clearly, he is young and brash and certainly he has ruffled some feathers within the IndyCar paddock. However, the 2013 Indy Lights champion is a lightning rod of controversy and drama, who along with Marco Andretti, Karam would have given the locals a hero to root for. But rather than the series actively pursuing Karam racing at Pocono and in turn helping better energize the local event, this seems to be another case of INDYCAR passively allowing other interests to determine the composition of the product.

And to think when 10,000 people show Sunday, they'll wonder where all the fans are. This rumor is downgraded to 'False.'

08/15/16 AutoRacing1 is hearing that Sage Karam remains hard at work trying to secure a race seat for this weekend's ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Raceway. Karam, a native of nearby Nazareth, Pa., ran 12 races last season for Chip Ganassi Racing, scoring a best finish of third at Iowa. His only 2016 start came in the 100th Indianapolis 500, in which Karam finished 32nd.

As for what team Karam might be looking to race with, AR1 is hearing that Schmidt Peterson Motorsports is the most likely possibility. Karam, of course, won the 2013 Indy Lights championship driving for SPM. Further, the team would likely be able to supply a crew from its Lights team.
