10/08/16 According to AR1.com sources, rumor has it that Carlos Munoz will not be returning to the Andretti Autosport team in 2017 and we have downgraded him on our 2017 IndyCar Silly Season page. We hear he simply does not have enough money to buy the ride despite being a very good driver. Now the question remains whether another driver steps up to the plate with a large enough check.

Andretti has run a number of drivers in Indy Lights over the years. Zach Veach is one who wants to move up. Juan Montoya is available and we could see him going to the Andretti team before the Foyt team knowing Andretti has a better chance of taking him to another Indy 500 win. And Andretti would love to get Montoya to learn some inside info on the inner workings of the Penske team.

In addition, Honda is doing a full court press to win bolster their ranks in 2017. Montoya adds more experience into their lineup. Can Andretti convince Juan to get in shape? He's getting too plump.
