Lewis Hamilton marked himself as favorite to win the pole position for the Brazilian GP with a time of 1m08.320s in his Mercedes to top the Red Bull Honda of Max Verstappen by just 0.026s.

Verstappen was particularly strong in the middle sector – the slowest sector, where the Red Bull chassis was strong.

The Ferraris of Charles Leclerc (+0.291s) and Sebastian Vettel (+0.344s) were 3rd and 4th as their inferior chassis struggled for grip.

Alex Albon rounded out the top-5 in the 2nd Red Bull.
