Amazon to sponsor Scott Dixon?

Rumor has it the Ganassi team is trying to land a deal with Amazon to sponsor the #9 car of Scott Dixon. Longtime sponsor Target left at the end of 2016 and the team is desperate to find a replacement.

If they can land Amazon, that would be a new sponsor for IndyCar, which is much needed because teams struggle to land big sponsors due to the minuscule TV ratings on NBCSN. Many deals in the IndyCar paddock are B2B deals because the TV ratings cannot otherwise justify a sponsor spending $5 million per year to put their name on a car with minimal exposure in return.
