UPDATE This rumor is upgraded to 'fact' today. Stewart-Haas Racing has officially confirmed Daniel Suarez as the driver of its No. 41 Ford Mustang for the 2019 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.

Suarez, who turns 27 today, replaces veteran and former Cup Series champion Kurt Busch. After piloting the car for the past five seasons, Busch will drive a Chevy for Chip Ganassi Racing.

Suarez will have sponsorship support from ARRIS as well as Haas Automation.

01/06/19 Stewart-Haas Racing is expected to make an announcement on the new driver of its No. 41 Ford early this week, according to Adam Stern of Sports Business Daily.

It is expected to be former Joe Gibbs Racing driver Daniel Suarez, who would replace Kurt Busch, who left for Chip Ganassi Racing.

Precise sponsorship plans are not yet clear, but the telecommunications equipment company Arris has been expected to follow Suarez to SHR.

JGR recently removed Arris from its partners webpage, appearing to confirm that it has left that organization. Adam Stern/SBD
