IndyCar News: Indy 500 Open Wednesday and Thursday
The field of drivers expected to enter next month’s 109th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge are hitting the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Wednesday and Thursday for the Indy 500 Open Test!
The two days of on-track action will be broken into sessions for Rookie Orientation Program, refreshers, qualifying simulation and full-field running. And best of all: it’s free and open to the public! The Turn 2 Mounds and Southeast Vista grandstands will be open, and free parking will be available in Lot 3P. Free ADA parking is available in the IMS Museum parking lot, and free ADA seating is available in South Terrace East grandstand.
Wednesday, April 23
Veteran oval drivers, including last year’s winner Josef Newgarden, will take the track from 10:05-noon. Rookie orientation and oval refreshers will take place from 12:00-2p.m. All cars will be available to take to the historic 2.5-mile oval from 2:00-6:00p.m.
Thursday, April 24
Thursday, drivers will participate in in qualifying sims from 10:00-12:00p.m. All cars will once again take to the track from 12:30-4:00p.m.
Viewing Access
Fans can view the test free of charge in the Southeast Vista and on the Turn 2 Mounds.
Parking
Free parking will be available in Lot 3P. Fans with an ADA placard and/or those visiting the IMS Museum will be allowed to park in the Museum Lot.
