NASCAR News: Martinsville penalties handed down by NASCAR
NASCAR has docked Sammy Smith (pictured #8) 50 driver points and fined him $25,000 for causing a last-lap crash in the Xfinity Series race at Martinsville Speedway last weekend.
Jeb Burton and Taylor Gray were both fined $5,000 apiece for going into the infield care center to confront other drivers after the race.
Trackhouse Racing jack man and tire changer (Aslan Pugh and Jonpatrick Kealy) have been suspended for the next two NASCAR Cup Series races as a result of the right-rear wheel falling off Shane van Gisbergen’s No. 88 Chevrolet during a cycle of green-flag pit stops,
Other penalties include a $5,000 fine to the No. 00 Haas Factory Xfinity Series team for having a missing lug nut at the end of the Xfinity Series race. The No. 71 Craftsman Truck Series team for Spire Motorsports was issued a $2,500 fine for a missing lug nut.
