NASCAR News: Bubba Wallace wins Daytona 500 Qualifier 1

Toyota driver Bubba Wallace was victorious in the Duel 1 qualifying race for the 2025 Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway, earning a third-place starting position for Sunday’s Great American Race.

William Byron, Ty Dillon, Ross Chastain and Tyler Reddick rounded out the top five.

AJ Allmendinger, Austin Dillon, Chase Elliott, Justin Allgaier and Kyle Busch rounded out the top 10.

With a ninth-place finish, Allgaier raced his No. 40 JR Motorsports Chevrolet into the Daytona 500 while Tricon Garage’s Martin Truex Jr. will make the race on speed. It’s the first Cup Series start for both teams.

On Lap 14 Chandler Smith Smith and Justin Haley both made huge contact with the Turn 2 wall. Helio Castroneves and Ty Gibbs were caught up in the incident.
