IMSA News: Lamborghini Confirms 1-car GTP Prototype Program
The Lamborghini Squadra Corse has confirmed its commitment to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship for the 2025 season, entering a single factory-supported SC63 in the GT Prototype (GTP) class of the Michelin Endurance Cup.
Supported by the technical and sporting departments of Lamborghini Squadra Corse, the car will continue its presence in the North American-based championship with the full program for the SC63 to be confirmed in due course.
Mirko Bortolotti, Romain Grosjean, Daniil Kvyat and Edoardo Mortara will form the driver roster of the Lamborghini SC63 throughout the 2025 IMSA campaign, with exact combinations decided on a race-by-race basis.
In the GTD classes, Lamborghini will field a trio of Huracán GT3 EVO2s. Factory drivers Andrea Caldarelli, Jordan Pepper and Marco Mapelli will lead the GTD Pro effort for Pfaff Motorsports, with the trio joined by former IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe for the Rolex 24 At Daytona.
In GTD, Wayne Taylor Racing will rely on Danny Formal and former Lamborghini Super Trofeo World Finals winner Trent Hindman. Graham Doyle will join for the Endurance Cup rounds, while 2024 full season driver Kyle Marcelli will contest Daytona. Forte Racing also returns to GTD with Misha Goikhberg, Parker Kligerman and Mario Farnbacher at the wheel, with the fourth driver to be confirmed.
This Christmas Eve update comes amidst speculation that the SC63 will have a new service provider for the 2025 campaign. PREMA Racing, under the Iron Lynx banner, ran the car in four races in 2024 and at the IMSA Sanctioned Test at Daytona International Speedway in November, where it recorded the fastest time across two days of testing for the GTP class.
IMSA has also released the garage assignments for the Rolex 24 and the preceding Roar Before the 24 tests. We see no Iron Lynx Lamborghini entry
