WEC news: Iron Lynx announces Maxime Martin for 2025
Iron Lynx announced that new Mercedes-AMG Performance Driver Maxime Martin will be joining the team for the 2025 FIA WEC season.
A 38-year-old Belgian racer, Martin has an exceptional resume as a factory driver in GT racing and found outstanding success in some of the world’s most challenging 24-hour races, including an overall win in the 2016 24 Hours of Spa and a GTE-Pro win in the 2020 24 Hours of Le Mans. He competed and excelled in a multitude of racing championships and environments around the globe, and will be a key asset for the team’s 2025 challenge.
As Iron Lynx prepares for the busy and exciting season ahead, the first as a Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing team, the addition of Martin to the driver roster will provide extra focus and motivation.
Both the team and driver are looking forward to competing with the new Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 machinery, which will bring the legendary German brand back to world-class endurance racing and to the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Andrea Piccini, Iron Lynx Team Principal & CEO: “I have always held Maxime Martin in very high regard. We have a friendly relationship, and we also had the chance to race together in 2013, finishing second in the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring. He’s a really strong driver, extremely quick, and particularly able to master challenging conditions. I have seen him do exceptional things throughout the years without any mistakes, which makes him a top contender, especially in long-distance races. If we add his experience and team-player ability, I honestly think he’s one of the best possible choices for any team, and I’m proud to welcome him to Iron Lynx for the 2025 season.”
Maxime Martin: “I’m very happy to join Iron Lynx for the 2025 WEC season. Mercedes-AMG is a new manufacturer for me and for the team, and I’m definitely looking forward to the year ahead. Iron Lynx has a remarkable history, and I have been teammates with Andrea Piccini in the past. It will be special to be back with him as the Team Principal. I cannot wait to get started in Qatar and try to win some races!”
