Supercars: Thomas Randle tops final Surfers Paradise practice
Thomas Randle soared to the top of the time sheets in Friday’s Practice 2 at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 on the streets of Surfers Paradise, capping a strong day for Ford squad Tickford Racing.
Randle led the second and final practice session of the weekend from teammate Cam Waters, who topped the opening session of the weekend earlier on Friday.
Kiwi Matt Payne was third in the order despite an early nudge of the tire wall, with hometown hero Broc Feeney fourth and reigning Bathurst 1000 winner Brodie Kostecki fifth.
Supercars championship leader Will Brown was sixth to finish a largely clean day of running around the streets of Surfers Paradise, with no major incidents across the 80 minutes of running on the day.
Tomorrow is race day at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500. Supercars returns to the track at 11:00 a.m. AEST for Boost Mobile Qualifying, with the fastest 10 cars taking part in the Boost Mobile Top Ten Shootout from 12:35 p.m.
Race 21 of the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship season begins at 3:15 p.m., with 85 laps and 250 kilometers of racing slated on the intense streets of Surfers Paradise.
