Automotive: Alonso and Aston Martin collaborate to create Valiant
More power. More downforce. Less weight. Fernando Alonso and Aston Martin collaborated to create Valiant, the most extreme, front-engine, road-legal Aston Martin ever built.
The ultra-exclusive, track-focused, special-edition Aston Martin Valiant will be unleashed by Fernando on 12 July at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in a thrilling demonstration run up the famous Hill Climb course.
Valiant was originally conceived from a personal commission by two-time Formula One® World Champion and Aston Martin Aramco Formula One driver Fernando Alonso for a lightweight, more extreme, racecar-inspired version of the spectacular Aston Martin Valor.
Following the commission and taking inspiration from Fernando’s 22-year career in Formula One and his passion for driving at the limit, Valiant was born as a strictly limited-edition special that has been carefully designed and crafted by the experts in Aston Martin’s bespoke division: Q by Aston Martin.
Powered by a 745PS 5.2 liter Twin-Turbo V12 engine mated to a bespoke 6-speed manual transmission, Valiant continues the brand’s long tradition of developing highly collectable special edition models, with a production of just 38 units, with all fully allocated before the first deliveries at the end of 2024.
Valiant will make its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed (11-14 July), with its first customer, Fernando, putting it through its paces on the Friday of the event on the iconic Hill Climb course just days after competing at the British Grand Prix.
“Valor was a spectacular celebration of Aston Martin’s 110th anniversary, and stirred me to create a more extreme, race car inspired version that was track-focused, while also delivering a thrilling drive on-road,” said Fernando.
“Valiant is born from my passion for driving at the limit and I have enjoyed working closely with the Q by Aston Martin team on both the design and technical specification and believe we have created a masterpiece.”
“Valiant is a modern masterpiece,” said Marco Mattiacci, Global Chief Brand and Commercial Officer of Aston Martin.
“A creation of Q by Aston Martin, inspired by a racing legend and conceived using the latest F1-inspired technology, exotic materials and obsessive weight reduction. It focuses on placing the driver in a truly unique, intense and emotional driving experience.
“The ultimate blend of performance, track-focused dynamics and hypercar intensity, Valiant embodies Aston Martin’s determined commitment to build rare and extraordinary cars for true drivers.”
“Valiant is an extrovert,” added Marek Reichman, Aston Martin’s Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer.
“One look leaves you in no doubt of its intentions. A true thoroughbred aimed at being enjoyed to the full on a racetrack, yet still useable on the road, it takes clear inspiration from motorsport, expressing its character through dramatic, muscular form and a plethora of beautiful, functional details.
“Amongst these are aero disc wheel covers, which are a nod to the mighty ‘Muncher’ Le Mans car, and a quartet of large diameter titanium exhaust pipes which honor the internal combustion and celebrate the soundtrack of Aston Martin’s magnificent V12.”
