F1: Sainz Jr. over Leclerc in Practice 2 for Singapore GP
Carlos Sainz Jr. and Charles Leclerc made it a Ferrari clean sweep on the opening day of practice for the in Singapore GP.
Whereas it was Leclerc on top in Practice 1, Sainz put up a lap of 1m32.120s to nip his teammate by 0.018s in Practice 2 under the lights.
George Russell was third for Mercedes, 0.235s behind.
Fernando Alonso was 4th for Aston Martin 0.358s back, and 0.1s ahead of Lewis Hamilton in the 2nd Mercedes in 5th.
Lando Norris continued to put his upgraded MCL60 through its pace as he finished sixth fastest.
It was not the easiest of days for Red Bull with Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen in seventh and eighth, respectively.
Perez was heard complaining of braking issues, while Verstappen slammed his fist against his steering wheel in frustration after his flying lap for only 8th best.
Max: “It has been worse than expected. We have work to do tonight. We will try to improve, but it’s a big difference.”
Checo: “It’s been tough with the rear, especially in FP2. We expected Ferrari to be strong. We want to close the gap, but it will be difficult.”
Haas’ teammates Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg finishing in P9 and P11, respectively, with the Alfa Romeo of Valtteri Bottas sandwiched between the pair.
