Olympic Committee again considering proposal to add motorsports (Update)

Six sports will be added by Los Angeles Olympic organizers to the 2028 program to be ratified at the 141st International Olympic Committee Session in Mumbai on 15–17 October; although motorsport was on the shortlist to be included, it was left out of the final proposal.

American flag football, baseball and softball, cricket, lacrosse, and squash were the six that made it. Rejected was auto racing, breakdancing, karate, and kickboxing.

A decision by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on which new sports will be included in the 2028 Olympics is likely to come soon.

Flag football and cricket have been shortlisted along with baseball-softball, lacrosse, breakdancing, karate, kickboxing, squash and motorsport.

In the past, it was proposed that the motorsports’ competition be with Rallycross cars.  We have to imagine that go-karts could also be used.

The Olympic Committee will not approve motorsports if it feels that all the equipment is not 100% equal. Olympic competition is based 100% on the athlete’s skill.

Hence, why go-kart racing may be the only way to ensure to the Committee that the equipment is 100% equal for all drivers.

It’s not just about a one-time inclusion; this is an opportunity for motorsport to gain wider global recognition and live in the consciousness of all sports-minded fans globally.
