Supercars: Walkinshaw Andretti cars to carry tribute livery

Both Walkinshaw Andretti United Ford Mustang Supercars will carry tribute liveries at this weekend’s Beaurepaires Sydney SuperNight.

WAU co-naming rights partner Mobil 1 will this weekend celebrate the 30th anniversary of its partnership with the team.

Chaz Mostert’s #25 Mobil 1 Optus Ford and Nick Percat’s #2 Mobil 1 NTI Ford will carry a special tribute celebrating the milestone.

The WAU/Mobil 1 relationship is one of the longest-standing partnerships in Supercars teamland.

The branding has front and center of the team’s biggest successes, with the Holden Racing Team era one of the most dominant in Supercars history.

Mobil 1 has adorned bonnets of Walkinshaw race cars since Peter Brock and Tomas Mezera raced for the team in 1994.

Fittingly, Brock took the team’s first championship round win at Sydney Motorsport Park, which hosts this weekend’s event.

WAU is also the most recent winner in Sydney, courtesy of Mostert at a sodden Sydney Motorsport Park in March 2022.

Between 1994 and 2023, WAU has taken six Bathurst 1000 wins, six drivers’ championships, and five teams’ championships, alongside 188 race wins and 274 podiums.

The majority of the successes came under the HRT banner, with Mobil 1 a constant throughout.

“Mobil 1 has been right by our side for three decades,” team co-owner Ryan Walkinshaw said.

“It’s an iconic partnership in global sport, and through it all, their support has never wavered.

“We’ve had championship wins, Bathurst wins, and race wins, playing an essential role in every single one of them.

“They are not just a sponsor, but a key technical partner we rely heavily upon to achieve what we do.

“To be able to celebrate this milestone is a testament to not only their loyalty and support over the journey, but their incredible products they provide around the world.

“We are honored to be in partnership with them, and hope it continues long into the future.”

Mostert and Percat will hit the track in Sydney on Saturday for two practice sessions, qualifying and the first night race of the Gen3 era.
